Harvesting Walnuts

Walnuts is hard.

And not them soft shells you get in the supermarket neither.

They done fall apart nice-like with just a little ole dime store nutcracker.

No, I’m talkin’ ‘bout the big hard shells

The ones that protect the nuts as they fall from the trees.

‘Cause some of them done fall far and hit the ground hard.

The life of a walnut is tough, and their shell’s gotta be even tougher.

But the shell’s only there to protect the fruit inside.

And to get the fruit, you’re gonna need a hammer.

Somethin’ to crack through the hard shell,

to get to the soft shell,

to get to the fruit.

Walnuts is hard,

but walnuts is only layers.

There’s goodness inside.

God willing, we’re gonna get us a few nuts.

Crack through shells

But “not by might” (Zechariah 4:6)

By God’s Spirit

The Spirit of

“Love

Joy

Peace

Patience

Kindness

Generosity

Faithfulness

Gentleness

Self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23)

That’s our hammer.

Yes, walnuts is hard,

But there’s goodness inside the toughest shell.
